"They [dogs] never talk about themselves but listen to you while you talk about yourself, and keep up an appearance of being interested in the conversation." - Jerome K. Jerome
BY HER FOSTER MOM Maggie came to me from the Monroe County Animal Shelter. She had been turned in by some people who got her away from a very bad home. Maggie lived in a junkyard with 2 large Rottweiler’s. Not that the Rottie’s are bad but I have a feeling they were not taken care of well and had to fight for food and territory. Not to mention they were probably made mean to protect the junkyard. Maggie was only 1 ½ yrs old lab mix and already had a litter of puppies. Talk about a baby having babies. Maggie had a lot of bruises, a few teeth knocked out (I don’t want to know how) and was a fighter. She would not take any grieve from anyone. From the first day Maggie was beside me, all she wanted was to be petted. If I sat down she was right next to me with her head on my shoulder. She would get so close she was almost crawling inside me. She wanted to always be touching me and making sure she was okay. One thing I remember the most was the holes she dug in the yard. She would dig a deep hole (China was visible in a few) and lay in the bottom. I think it was her way of hiding and staying out of the line of fire. I did not know but a very special lady had met Maggie at the pound. She had filled out an application and left it in the mailbox. Nobody looked there very often so no one knew. Maggie knew, she would lie in the living room window and watch for hours, she was watching for her forever mom. Somehow word got to me about the application and I thought Maggie’s forever home was a reality. Unfortunately Maggie had a very bad case of worms; everything she ate was coming out. She was losing weight and was passing The day she went home, Maggie jumped in the car and never looked back. She was going home. Pat tells me she loves to go for rides in the car and is happy. I knew she was home when Pat told me Maggie never dug a hole at their house. Maggie didn’t need to, she was safe and loved. BY HER MOM Maggie is the biggest snuggler you have ever seen. If I lay down she lays her head across my neck. She will put her nose right on yours and just look at you. She loves to play and really likes sitting by Tom when he is sitting down. She likes to be outside and run and play with Chase. She is really a funny dog. She can jump straight up in the air about three feet. We think she is part kangaroo. We got a new kitten and she is very gentle with him. She has taken up the foot of the bed and Tom spoils her and calls her baby girl. She is surrounded with toys and loves to play. We cannot open a car door when she is around or the car window. She jumps right through the window and there she is....have to take her up the road and back then she will get out of the car otherwise she will sit there all day. She just makes you smile just looking at her. Thank You PAT for making our MAGGIE so happy.
MAGGIE'S FOREVER SUCCESS STORY
blood. She had to go through some very hard de-worming meds. For about a week all she could have was rice, not her favorite meal. Maggie recovered and Pat, her forever mom, waited for her.
She is a part of this family and fits right in and she loves anyone that comes over. She is a guard dog if she hears a noise she is right there to take care of things. She loves lying in her kennel so the door is open on it so she can go in and lay down to take a nap. Maggie has a nonstop tail that just keeps going even if you just look at her. She is the only dog that can wag her tail and her whole body moves with it. She is the love of our life and we would not part with her. I’m so glad I found her it was meant to be.
