DO YOU HAVE TIME TO BE MY BEST FRIEND?
My name is Doc. My foster mom calls me Stinker bum. I don’t know why it just stuck. I wish she wouldn’t but you know foster moms. When I came into the foster home I had Lyme’s disease. I took all my medicine and I am better now. I am not a crowd lover. I don’t like to party and really just want to have it calm and relaxed. I get along with all the other dogs but since they found me running and had to catch me in a live trap I really don’t want any more excitement. I don’t trust easy and it will take awhile for you and me to get to know each other. It took awhile with my foster mom but now I like it at night when I can crawl up next to her and have her pet me. Who knew that could feel so good. I am about 2 yrs old. A fenced yard is a must for me because I love to spend time outside just smelling and checking it all out. I am house broken and I am up to date with all my shots and neutered. My fee is only $60.00. If you have time I have a lot of love to give but it will take us time to get to know each other.
I’ll try if you will!
FROM HIS FOSTER MOM: Doc came into foster care on Aug 12, 2009. Doc is a Neutered male Terrier mix, about 1 1/2 yrs old. Not a lot is know about Doc. He was running with a group of dogs and had to be caught in a life trap. I am not sure if this or if something in his past frightened him but Doc was frightened of everything. It took a great deal of patience for me to get to Doc. He would cringe when I tried to pet him, hide in the closet all day and night, run past me so fast to go outside and just avoid everyone and every dog. Slowly one of the dogs, Lily, made friends with him. She would go to the closet and play with him. I would go in and pet Lily and Doc would see how Lily enjoyed it. One day he let me pet him. He liked it. Now he comes out for treats, petting, to watch TV and just to be part of the group.
Doc is shy and will never be a party animal but he is a diamond in the rough. Where ever his forever home is they will have a truly amazing dog. Doc does a little dance when he is happy that makes your heart soar. You know you are truly loved because he does this for only the special people in his life. He is not demanding or whiny, he just is there.
Doc’s temperament needs someone calm and peaceful. He would be an excellent first time dog. Doc needs time to get to know you and let you get to know him. He is not going to be the dog who does the tricks or amazes your friends. He will be the dog who is loves you and only you.
